Carolyn Ann Whitaker, age 81 of Yorkville, IL passed away on Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at her home. She was born on July 21, 1934 in Hannibal, MO the daughter of Malcom and Ellen (Hehmeyer) Rogers.
Carolyn was united in marriage on October 8, 1955 to Mr. Russell Giles Whitaker Sr., and they spent the next 60 happy years together. She was a graduate of Pleasant Hill High School in Pleasant Hill, IL. Carolyn attended Gem City Business College in Quincy, IL. Mrs. Whitaker was a Den Mother for her son’s Cub Scout Troop. Carolyn took pride in taking care of her children and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt who will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Carolyn is survived by her husband, Russell Whitaker Sr., of Yorkville, IL; her children, Pastor Russell Giles (Sue) Whitaker Jr., of Wilton, N.D., Cheri (Dr. Peter) Lo Destro of Yorkville, IL and Jodi (Steven) Bammer of Yorkville, IL; her eleven grandchildren; her seventeen great-grandchildren; her sister; her brothers; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Malcom and Ellen Rogers.
A Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 PM on Monday, October 5, 2015 at the Larson-Nelson Funeral Home & Crematory, 1617 North Bridge Street in Yorkville, IL with Pastor Russell G. Whitaker Jr., officiating. Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Bristol, IL.
