DORIS NOTTINGHAM TENNIS GAYLE
Doris Nottingham Tennis Gayle, age 91, formerly of Carrollton, died Sunday, June 9, 2002, in Riverside Regional Medical Center. She was a native of Isle of Wight County, a homemaker and a member of Franklin-Carrollton Seventh Day Adventist Church.

Mrs. Gayle was preceded in death by her husband, Fitzhugh Lee Gayle; a son, Ronnie Gayle; and a granddaughter, Missie Johnson.

Survivors include three daughters, Joan Rebecca G. Clark, Margaret Sue G. Johnson, both of Carrollton, Linda Faye G. Green of Hampton; three sons, Fitzhugh G. Gayle Jr. of Weldon, North Carolina, Joseph George Gayle of Carrollton, William Ray Gayle of Suffolk; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.

A funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 12, in Colonial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Austin Goodwin officiating. Burial will follow in Newman Memorial Cemetery, Chuckatuck. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 11, in Colonial Funeral Home, Smithfield. The family wishes to thank the staff of the James River Convalescent Center in Newport News for the service and care that was given to Mrs. Gayle.

Colonial Funeral Home, Smithfield, is handling arrangements.
