Mrs. Ruth Henderson Bryan, age 86, of Broadway, NC died Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at Central Carolina Hospital.
She was born in Buncombe County, NC on February 24, 1928, to the late Thomas Samuel Henderson and Flora Mae Owenby Henderson. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Jack Burris Bryan, Sr.; grandson, Bryan Tyner and siblings, Ray Henderson and Ruby Nell Lewis. Mrs. Bryan was a homemaker before graduating in the first Teacher’s Assistant program in Lee County. She was a teacher’s assistant at Broadway and Greenwood schools.
Mrs. Bryan was a member of Jonesboro Heights Baptist Church and at one time sang in the church choir. She and her late husband were members of a couples club that met once a month and the Sandhills Emmaus Community.
The family will receive friends Thursday, May 1, 2014, from 6:30 to 8:30 PM at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home and the funeral will be Friday, May 2, 2014, at 3:00 PM at Jonesboro Heights Baptist Church with Dr. Calvin Sayles and Dr. Gary McCollough officiating. Burial will follow at Broadway Town Cemetery.
