Mr. Robert Wayne Birdwell, Sr., age 85, of Griffin, GA passed away Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at Brightmoor Hospice.
Mr. Birdwell was born in Buena Vista, TN, on December 20, 1929, to the late James Lucian and Estell Lee Wyatt Birdwell. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Boyt Birdwell; sisters Frances Marie Johnson, Ruth Staggs, Alma Louise Hale and Inez Mole; and brothers James Weldon Birdwell and Marvin Wade Birdwell. Mr. Birdwell was a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church and American Legion Post 15.
Mr. Birdwell is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law Pam and Bart Miller of Williamson, and Nancy and David Wilcox of Texas; son Robert Wayne Birdwell, Jr. of Texas; brother and sister-in-law Kenneth Ray and Deloris Birdwell of Niota, TN; 6 grandchildren; and many great and great-great grandchildren.
A funeral service for Mr. Robert Wayne Birdwell, Sr. will be held Thursday, October 1, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home. Reverend John Nance will officiate. Interment will follow in Westwood Gardens. Friends may visit the family Thursday, October 1, 2015 from 9:00 am until the service hour at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Brightmoor Hospice, 3247 Newnan Road, Griffin, GA 30223 in memory of Mr. Birdwell.
