Mrs. Florine McClain, 79, of Monroe, LA, died Friday, April 4, 2003, at the Town and Country Nursing Home in Minden, LA. A native of Bradley County, resident of Monroe for the past twenty years, and a former resident of Bastrop, LA, and Hamburg, she was a homemaker and a Baptist. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alphis McClain, in 1959; her parents, Alfred and Exie May Forrest Stewart; and five sisters.
She is survived by five sons, R.W. "Rufus" McClain of Monroe, LA, A.B. McClain of Winnsboro, LA, Marion McClain of Lake Park, GA, David McClain of Haughton, LA, and Danny McClain of Anchorage, Alaska; a daughter, Frances Bourgeois of Bossier City, LA; a sister, Hazel Frye of Houston, TX; twenty-four grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m., Monday, April 7, at the Egypt Missionary Baptist Church with the Revs Dale Crumby and Justin Uselton officiating. Grandsons served as pallbearers. Burial followed services at the Egypt Cemetery under the direction of JonesHartshorn Funeral Home of Hamburg.
