In the New York State Census for 1905 and The United States Federal Census for 1910 , WIllis and Claire are not shown living with ANY children at all.
In the 1910 US Federal Census, Vernon (Verner) aged 7, and Earl (Early) Gardner , aged 4, are shown to be living with their Uncle Robert A. Gardner in Buffalo, New York . The census says their parents were both born in Canada.
