Franklin Huwe 74 of Butler died Sunday September 27, 2015 at Sanford Hospital in Webster.

His funeral will be at 2:00 P.M. Friday, October 2, 2015 at Fiksdal Funeral Chapel in Webster, Rev. Chris Srohm officiating. Burial will be at Prairie Mound Cemetery, Butler.

Visitation will be at Fiksdal Funeral Service in Webster on Thursday 5-7 P.M. and one hour prior to services on Friday.

Franklin Delano Roosevelt Huwe was born on Thursday, January 30, 1941 to Theodore and Nora (Gramberg) Huwe on the family farm southwest of Bristol in Valley Township, Day County, South Dakota. He was baptized and confirmed at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Bristol and attended school in Bristol. After he received his education he farmed with his parents, worked for area farmers, went south custom combining and drove truck. Beginning in 1963 Franklin served in the Army National Guard for six years.

He was united in marriage to Stephanie Kvernevig on May 25, 1968 at Bristol, South Dakota. After their marriage the couple moved to Butler. Franklin worked for the Milwaukee and Burlington Northern Railroad from 1970 to 1985 when he received an injury at work and retired. He then farmed his land, raised cows and horses.

He was a member of Bethesda Lutheran Church in Bristol. He also belonged to the South Dakota Fur Trappers Association. Franklin and Stephanie enjoyed each other’s company and taking drives through the country. He would always have the coffee on if someone stopped by. He enjoyed reading, especially history books, hunting, fishing, trapping, gardening. He was intrigued with genealogy and preserving the past.

Franklin passed away on Sunday, September 27, 2015 at Webster, South Dakota at the age of 74 years, 7 months and 28 days.

Survivors include his wife, Stephanie at Aberdeen Health and Rehab; one son, Clinton (Carrie) Huwe of Prosper, ND; one daughter, Paula (Levi) Strohschein of Wright, WY; one brother, Burnell (Shirley) Huwe of Butler, SD; and four grandchildren, Joslyn, Shaelyn, Layne and Mitchell. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Fern Buehler.
