Gregory was the son of Thomas Yewell Connell (1922-2001) and Mary Jane Seaberry (1930-).

Gregory attended Eastern Hill High School Fort Worth Texas.
After graduating from High School Gregory became a Fashion Model. He moved to California. In 1972 he the Actor, musician, song writer Peter Allen and they began a long term relation. Greg passed away there from Kaposi sarcoma.
