James E. Ferguson, Sr., 89, of Chittenango passed away Tuesday at his home. Born in Auburn, Jim was a longtime resident of Manlius, moving to Chittenango 2 years ago. He was employed as a service writer with Koerner Ford in Syracuse retiring in 1988. He was also a Constable for the Town of Pompey. Jim was a veteran of WW II serving in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the Manlius United Methodist Church and the Manlius VFW. He was predeceased by his wife, Phyllis, in 2014.
Surviving are his sons, James Ferguson, Jr. (Liz Lucas) of Chittenango, Richard Ferguson (Carol DiStephano) of Albany, Perry Ferguson (Roxanne) of Richland and Gary Ferguson (Peggy) of Holland Patent; his daughters, Vicky Ferguson (Brian) of Chittenango and Laurie Hence of Chittenango; his sister, Diane Wallingford of Nelson; 15 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the G.F. Zimmer Funeral Home, 702 Legion Drive, Chittenango. Burial will follow in White Chapel Memory Gardens, DeWitt. Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Contributions in his memory may be made to the Manlius United Methodist Church.
