Marguerite Nelson, age 99, was born to John and Margaret Nichol on May 17, 1916 in Elko, Nevada. She resided in Elko until 1946 when she moved to Gridley, CA. In 1964 she moved to Willows where she lived in the same house on Culver Street for almost 50 years. During the last two years of her life she lived in Chico at an independent or assisted living facility. Her last months were at Almond Blossom Assisted Living where she enjoyed its caring family style atmosphere.
She is survived by a son, Ronald Nelson and his wife Carolyn of Gridley; a grandson Russell Nelson of Danville, CA and a granddaughter Lynda Conner of Arcadia, CA; a niece Erlene Janes of Nevada City, CA. and her three children and niece Cindy Turner of Wendover, NV; and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother and three sisters.

Maggie was a hard working woman who loved people, enjoyed life and had a fondness for nature and animals. In addition to being a homemaker, she worked in the food service industry much of her life. She enjoyed working in her yard and voluntarily caring for her neighbor's dog and cats. A good day for her involved going to town shopping, while being accompanied by the neighbor's dog. Both enjoyed the outing! She was an avid San Francisco Giants fan never missing a televised game.

A memorial service in Celebration of Her Life will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2015 at 11:00 a.m., at the Gridley Presbyterian Church. A reception at the social hall of the church will immediately follow. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to a local SPCA of your choice.

A private interment at the Gridley-Biggs Cemetery will follow at a later date.
