Elliott Dwight Davis, age 58 of Lynden, went home to be with his Lord on Saturday, November 25, at the Christian Health Care Center in Lynden after a four and a half year battle with cancer.
He was born to Elliott (Bill) and Carla (Knudson) Davis on August 16, 1948 in Seattle and graduated from Meridian High School in 1967. He was in the Air Force from 1968 until 1972 and served in Vietnam.
He married Cheryl Gienger on May 23, 1970. After his term in the Air Force, Dwight and Cheryl moved to Lynden for the rest of his life. They were blessed with two daughters, April and Amber.
Dwight worked in construction for most of his life, except for a time spent as Lynden Public Works Director for ten years. He loved fishing on the Fraser and Vedder Rivers in BC, and he enjoyed camping and playing cards.
Dwight was involved with the Lynden church league basketball program and enjoyed all sporting events. He was a member of Word of Life Church, and loved fellow shipping with his friends.
Dwight was preceded in death by his father, Elliott (Bill) Davis in 1998 and is survived at home by his wife Cheryl of 36 years; children April (Aaron) Benner of Sumas and Amber (Nick) Millard of Lynden; his mother Carla Davis of Lynden; brothers Carl (Donna) Davis of Castle Rock, WA, Jeff (Jill) Davis of Everson and numerous other relatives.
Visitation hours will be from 1 to 8 pm on Sunday, Dec 3, at Gillies Funeral Home in Lynden. Memorial services will be conducted by Rev. Jon Hagebusch and Pastor John Steele on Monday, Dec 4 at 2 pm in World of Life Church, Lynden, with the graveside service preceding at 1 pm in Greenacres Memorial Park.
