Joyce Southwick, age 84, died September 28, 2015 at home of causes incident to age.
She was born March 16, 1931 in Ogden, Utah, the daughter of P. Leroy Allred and Bessie Kammeyer Allred.
Joyce married Fred Southwick on February 25, 1950. They spent the first 19 years of marriage in Colorado and California, and then moved to Idaho Falls, where they continued to live until death.
She had been employed as an activities director for two nursing homes in Idaho Falls, she was a co-owner of Cleveland House (a ceramic shop), and worked at Artistry in Oak for years.
Joyce was artistic, loved to paint, sew clothes, crochet, quilt and loved decorating her home.
Her family will remember the many parties and get togethers she hosted. Joyce sang with the “Swinging Sweethearts” for many years and enjoyed music, dancing and the arts.
Joyce was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day-Saints, serving in primary, young women’s, relief society and as a den mother.
Joyce is survived by her two sons, Michael Southwick of Idaho Falls, Jeff Southwick (Teresa) of Idaho Falls; daughter, Deborah Southwick of Star, Idaho; 11 grandsons, one granddaughter and 18 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, one brother, daughter, Cindy Hayes, one grandson, D.J. Southwick, and one great-grandchild, Kole Glover.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Kevin Nelson, Mary, Shirley, Lana, Colton and Mickie of Teton Pharmacy Home Health and Hospice for the loving care they provided.
Funeral Services will be held at Leavitt’s Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden, Utah on Saturday, October 3, 2015 at 1:00 pm. Friends may visit with the family prior to services from 12:00 to 12:45 pm.
Interment at Leavitt’s Aultorest Memorial Park, 836 36th Street, Ogden, Utah.
