Calvin Day Jr. was born to Calvin Wells Day, Sr. and Esther Lynd. Calvin Day Jr. had 3 children that I am aware of: Mark Day (LAPD), Debbie Day, and Kimberly Day.

I knew "Cal" personally. I met him many times. He attended my brother, John Edward Lynd's wedding.

Cal Jr. was quite a marksman. He competed to shoot in the Olympics. He had a wonderful gun collection including many antique weapons. Cal Jr. at one time was a "professional wrestler". He was a general contractor for many years.

Cal Jr. was my father, John Joseph Lynd's favorite Nephew. At Cal's mother's funeral, Esther Lynd, he told me how my father taught him to drive a car. Cal said my father was in the back seat and stuck a screwdriver in his back and said "drive"! Any mistakes he would be stabbed!

My father joined the Merchant Marines during WW II. Cal Jr. told me about my father inviting him to San Pedro, Los Angeles, to have "dinner" aboard ship before my father "shipped out". My father was a big man (6 feet and 260 pounds; later in life 400 pounds). Cal said my father ordered "dinner" and that the cook served basically one plate for each of them. My father had a big appetite. Cal said father asked for more food and that the cook refused, saying "you only get one plate". Apparently that was not good enough. Cal said Dad said: "wait here" and thereafter went back into the kitchen. Cal said that, that was when the "sh-t hit the fan". He said he heard screaming from the kitchen and the sounds of pots and pans, hitting the walls. Then my father came back to the table. Then the cook ran out with trays of more food!
Cal Jr. was a great story teller.

I miss Cal.
