Frederick ”Fritz” Coleman Miller, 92, of Peru, passed away at 12:12 a.m., Sunday, September 27, 2015 at Illinois Valley Community Hospital following a brief illness

Funeral Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 30, at Grace United Methodist Church, LaSalle with Pastor Brett Todd, officiating. Burial to follow at Peru City Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, from at the Mueller Funeral Home, Peru and 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church.

Mr. Miller was born January 3, 1923 in Chicago to Maxwell Peter and Elizabeth (Burleson) Miller. He served as a lieutenant in the Army Air Corps during World War II and graduated from the University of Chicago in 1947, where he was a member of Alpha Delta Phi fraternity. He married Betty McAfee on February 17, 1945 in San Antonio, Texas. They were married for 64 years. Mr. Miller was General Manager of The Daily News-Tribune in LaSalle for 44 years before his retirement in 1992.

He was an avid gardener, photographer, and an accomplished cook. Mr. Miller was also a member of the Society of the Cincinnati and a longtime member of the Deer Park Country Club.

Mr. Miller is survived by 3 daughters, Lee Miller (Steven) Stanard of Oak Park, IL, Elizabeth “Libby” Miller (James) Boyle of Peru, and Marilyn Miller (Daniel) Harris of Seattle, WA; 2 sons, Frederick “Rick” (Jane) Miller, Jr. of Washington, IL; and Fort McAfee (Julie) Miller of Granville; 12 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, brother and 1 grandson.
