VADM Arthur Eugene "Gene" Henn, USCG (ret.), 60, the 18th Vice Commandant of the USCG from 1994-1996, passed away March 28, 2001, in Tampa, Fla. Born June 5, 1940, in Cincinnati, he graduated from the CG Academy in 1962. His assignments included CGC Chincoteague, Captain of the Port and Group Commander in New York, and Chief of Operations Division and Chief of Staff for the 8th Coast Guard District in New Orleans. Selected for flag rank in 1987, he then served as Commander, Maintenance and Logistics Command, LANTAREA, Chief, Office or Marine Safety, Security and Environmental Protection and as Vice Commandant. He retired from the USCG in July 1996, and is survived by his wife, Susan; son David, and daughter Jennifer. Funeral services and interment were held April 11, 2001, at Arlington National Cemetery, Va. The Henn family requests donations in lieu of flowers be sent to the Hospice Foundation of America, 777 17th St., Suite 401, Miami Beach, FL 33139.
