He graduated from Plainville High School in 1955. He married his high school sweetheart Joyce Mae Lawrence and they were married 61 years at the time of his death.
Gary worked many years in the oil field in Nebraska prior to moving to Eaton, Colorado when he began the life he loved so much hauling livestock for Lynn Keirnes for 19 years. Gary also hauled livestock and many other things over the years for Marvin Weber, Ed Duggan Trucking, and HH Williams. Gary took many critters and other things cross the mountains, desert and plains, did it all with great skill and pride, while enjoying the ride. Proud to be a truck driver in 1975 Gary was awarded, the award of truck driver of the year.
After retiring, together Gary and Joyce enjoyed being camp hosts and traveling. Gary belonged to the North Weld Saddle Club where he enjoyed riding his horse Moon and watching his children ride.
Gary was a proud family man and is survived by his wife Joyce; and children, Connie Knight (Richard Salazar), Toni Knight (Kenneth Wynn); Bruce Knight (Janice Poe); Tawnya Knight (Martin Garcia) and enjoyed being part of the lives by his many grandchildren. Gary is also survived by his sister, Alice Knight (Wayne Sell) and nieces and nephews. Gary was preceded in death by his parents; two grand-daughters; and two grandsons.
Memorial Service 12 noon on Friday September 4, 2015, at Adamson Chapel, to be followed with a reception to enjoy dad’s favorites - apple pie and cookies, burial will follow at the Nunn Cemetery.
