Leonard “Lonnie” Morey was born on 29 Oct 1955 to Leonard and Bettie Morey. He lived in El Sobrante before moving to Red Bluff with his family.
Lonnie suffered a hip injury while he was still young. The injury was a source of lifelong pain and he could have chosen to be disabled. Instead, he joined CETA and obtained a position at Tehama County Social Services. Through this program, he was hired as a permanent employee. He worked in the eligibility department of Social Services. He was highly respected for his knowledge of program rules and regulations and was called “a walking regulations manual.” He retired from Social Services in 2007.
Lonnie was a caring and compassionate person. He had an awesome sense of humor and, because of this, was often the target of co-workers practical jokes. He loved cooking and trying new recipes he learned watching cooking shows. Lonnie liked to ride motorcycles. He also raised pigs.
We all face difficulties in life. Lonnie was no exception. However, there was so much more to him. He is at peace now. He has not been forgotten. Lonnie will be remembered by those of us who cared about and respected him, in spite of those difficulties.
Rest well my friend.
