Pansy Brown, 83, of Metuchen died on Wednesday, June 28 2017.

Born in St. George, South Carolina, to the late Randolph and Cleo (Troutman) Brown,

Pansy lived her early years in Red Springs, North Carolina, the Laurinburg-Maxton army air base, and Lansford, Pennsylvania before moving to Metuchen in 1950.

Pansy graduated from Metuchen High School in 1952 and was employed by Westinghouse in Edison as a Quality Control Inspector. She retired in 1992 after 40 years with the company. Pansy was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Metuchen, the Metuchen Senior Citizens and the JFK Hospital Auxiliary.

Pansy had a passion for Ford cars, and enjoyed fine Italian and soul foods. In younger years, she golfed, traveled, learned to play the banjo and took pride in her southern roots and her many hobbies and accomplishments.

The senior apartments in Metuchen was home to Pansy in her later years where she enjoyed many friendships and learned to communicate with other residents in Chinese and Russian. Failing health prompted a move to the Regency Park Nursing Center in Hazlet NJ to be nearer to her sister, Ann, where she added many to her list of friends.

Pansy is predeceased by her parents, Randolph and Cleo, her step-father William Curry, a sister, Phyllis Dawn Brown, and her brothers-in-law, Michael Gangemi and Edward Schneider. She is survived by her brother, Charles Brown and wife Ernestine, New Brunswick, her sister, Virginia Gangemi, Lake Worth Florida, and sister, Ann Schneider, Red Bank, along with many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Cremation was private. Family and friends are invited to join a graveside service in the Hillside Cemetery, Lincoln Avenue, Metuchen on Friday, July 14 at 11:00am, followed by a luncheon in Pansy's honor where friends and neighbors can share remembrances with the family.
