Wayne C. Riley, 87, of Tiffin, passed away at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 27, 2015, at Volunteers of America Autumnwood Care Center. Wayne was born Nov. 10, 1927, in Tiffin to the late Clinton L. and Ruth S. (Spitnale) Riley.

He married Marilyn L. (Linker) at St. Paul's Episcopal Church at Put-In-Bay June 6, 1948, and she preceded him in death Feb. 16, 2013.

Survivors include a son, Daniel (Dana) Riley of Catawba; six grandchildren, Caitlin (Archemy) Omoregie, Sean, Allison Riley, Kevin Riley and twins Emerson Riley and Emma (Nicholas) Faeth; and a brother, Timothy W. (Phyllis) Riley of Tiffin.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; wife; two sons, William C. and Thomas J. Riley; a brother, Jean J. Riley; and a sister, Joan R. Hippler.

Wayne was founder of Riley's Car Wash in Tiffin. Wayne was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, and was a 1945 graduate of Tiffin Columbian High School and later went on to graduate from Heidelberg College in 1952, where he played football during the undefeated season in 1948. After high school, Wayne went and played on the freshman football team at The Ohio State University.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving as a corpsman at Bethesda Naval Hospital during World War II.

There will be a memorial service 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 2, 2015, at Trinity United Church of Christ with the Rev. Dr. Louis Dorsch officiating. There will be no burial held at this time.
