Carl worked for the County of San Diego as a social worker and retired in May 1986. He loved classical music and British comedies. Chocolate desserts, especially cake, made his blue eyes light up! He was an avid reader and was something of a walking encyclopedia when it came to military history, ships, submarines, and aircraft. Carl was a kind man to family and friends and he would be there for them without expecting anything in return. He lived a long and full life gifting us with his wisdom, humor and warmth. He will be missed immensely. We are left with an excerpt from a poem chosen for him by the woman who knew him best, his beloved wife."And may there be no sadness of farewell, When I embark; For though from out our bourne of Time and Place The flood may bear me far, I hope to see my Pilot face to faceWhen I have crossed the bar"~Tennyson
