DAVENPORT - Viola Devine Nagel, of Davenport, passed away on Sunday, March 28, 2004, at Davenport Lutheran Home. Celebration of Life services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 2, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Runge Mortuary. Memorials may be made to the St. Matthew Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery. Viola was born Dec. 31, 1921, in Buena Vista, Iowa, the daughter of Winfield and Sophie (Bahnsen) Devine. She was united in marriage to Leon L. Nagel on April 2, 1940. Viola had been an active member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church Davenport since 1954. She served as an Election Official for 35 years in Scott County and had operated a wedding cake baking business out of her home for many years. Those left to honor her memory include her husband of 63 years Leon, Davenport; daughters and sons-in-law, Cynthia (Uriah Orr) Nagel, Prince Rupert, B.C., Carol (Bradley) Bishop, Tampa, Fla., Vicki (Richard) Atzen, Davenport, and Lorrie (Bradley) Williams, Mt. Gilead, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Julian Orr, Craig Atzen, Bridget Valleroy, Nicholas Atzen, Brittney Bishop, Sarah Williams and Aaron Williams; great-grandchildren, Olivia Atzen, Mathew Valleroy and Alyssa Atzen; and sisters-in-law, Janet Kuttler, Davenport, and Verna (Bob) Hamann, Davenport. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Al Anderson and Garfield Devine, great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Atzen.
