It is will great sadness that we announce the death of our father, grandfather, great -grandfather and uncle, Roy Binnie, on September 22, 2015 at the age of 99 years.

Roy was always a positive influence for his family demonstrating an unflagging optimism and undying love of learning. Growing up on a farm on the prairies (SK), Roy was able to meet different challenges head on and always maintained a sense of fairness and happiness. While serving in the Canadian Army in World War II, Roy met Vera in 1941 in London England and they were married in London England February 14, 1942. Roy also saw action in France, Belgium and Holland before returning to Canada in 1946. In the summer of 1946, Vera and son Malcolm (born 1945), emigrated to join Roy in Regina, SK where they began their life together as a Canadian family. The family eventually moved to Saskatoon, SK where Kathleen (1951) and Keith (1959) were born before moving to Calgary, AB in 1969.

At age 67, Roy ended his working career at Loram, a company for which he enjoyed working. After retirement he continued to volunteer for different charitable groups and his church.

He is survived by his daughter, Kathleen Binnie, B.C. and granddaughters, Hilary Anderson, Saskatchewan and Karen Anderson, Alberta ; son Keith Binnie, Alberta; granddaughter Jennifer Nunez and husband Lisandro and great-grandchildren children, Natalia, Lucas, and Royce, United Kingdom; granddaughter Angela Saunders and her husband Michael and great-grandchildren children Madison and Adam of Virginia U.S.A. He also leaves to mourn nieces and nephews and their families in B.C. and England. Roy was predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Vera Binnie in 2000; eldest son, Malcolm Binnie in 1997; and his sister, Evelyn Hermann.
