Church Services for Shannon W. Stephens, 45, of Spur, will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at the Highway 70 Church of Christ in Spur with Tommy Bailey officiating. Interment will follow at Girard Cemetery in Girard, Texas under the direction of Zapata Funeral Home of Spur. Shannon went home to be with the Lord on Friday, September 25, 2015 in Lubbock surrounded by his family. Shannon graduated from Shallowater High School in 1989. He attended Texas Tech and graduated from Clarendon College. He worked on various ranches and owned Maverick Horse Company. He had a big heart and always helped others. He was a true gentleman. Shannon is survived by his children; son Sloan Stephens and daughter Sydney Stephens of Midland and a goddaughter Cami O’Neal of Keller, Texas. Parents: Stephen and Nancy Wright of Morton. Sister: Stephanie Verdoorn of Eden Prairie, MN. Brother: Brandon Wright of Levelland. Nephews: Logan Dean Wright and Daniel Verdoorn, niece: Megan Verdoorn and a special Aunt Treva Jackson of Morton and Uncle John and wife Lana Jackson of Amarillo. He is preceded in death by his dad; John Stephens, grandparents; Blue and Melvina Stephens and Dean and Ava Jackson, and his uncle Tommy D. Jackson.
