Joseph "Joe" Randolph Laney is the son of William Jackson Laney (May 6, 1885 AL - Apr. 10, 1934 AL) and Rose "Rosebud" Corley Laney Lasseter Lockridge (1887 AL - May 12, 1961 OK).

He was the husband of Miriam Alline Snead Laney. They were married Aug. 05, 1941 in Gadsden, Etowah County, Alabama.

At the time of their marriage , Joseph "Joe" Randolph Laney was a Salesman for Coca-Cola. He worked for Coca-Cola for several more years, until he started working for Tro-Fe Dairy (which later, as it changed owners, was renamed Tro-Fe Meadow Gold and then Meadow Gold).

Funeral services will be 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Collier-Butler Chapel for Mr. Joe R. Laney, 974 South 5th St., Gadsden, who died on Thursday, Oct. 7, 1999. Dr. James Newell and the Rev. Jim Stanton will officiate.

Burial will be at Forrest Cemetery. Collier-Butler Funeral Home is in charge.

Joe was retired from Meadow Gold Dairy with 30 years of service. He was owner and president of Laney Enterprises, The Kirby Company and Joe's Vacuum Company. He was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Gadsden and was a member of Hickman Rayburn Sunday School Class. He was past president of the class.

Joe was preceded in death by his brother, Hubert Laney, and sisters, Ruth Riley and Ruby Boman.

He is survived by his wife, Alline Snead Laney; sons; Randy Snead Laney and Joe Roger Laney; daughters-in-law, Linda Pamela and Anita Laney; grandchildren, Hasty Laney, Clarke Parks, Matthew and Megan Laney; great-grandchildren, Laney Elizabeth Parks; sisters-in-law, Sybol Ellis and Betty Snead and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Gadsden.

Pallbearers will be members of the Hickman Rayburn Sunday School Class.

Honorary pallbearers will be all members and deacons of First Baptist Church and friencs.

The family will receive friends from 2:30 p.m. until time of service.
