FALKNER – Darrell Eugene ""Hop"" Hopkins, 80, lifelong resident of Tippah and Benton counties and retired logger and construction company employee, died Sept. 26, 2015, at his residence.
Services for Mr. Hopkins will be at 1 p.m. today in the Heritage Chapel of Ripley Funeral Home with burial in the Hopkins Cemetery.
A Christian and gifted for being ""a jack of all trades,"" Hop was married for 58 years to his beloved wife and best friend Ruth Ann Hopkins who died earlier this year.
Visitation for Mr. Hopkins will continue at Ripley Funeral Home today from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
He had a deep love for his large family and leaves his children, Kathy Brooks and Polly Shelby (Vince), both of Falkner, Tommy Hopkins (Lottie) of Blue Mountain; a sister, Anna Faye Smith (Buddy) of Ashland; 14 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and a host of many friends and extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his children, Linda Hopkins, Tony Hopkins; and two great-granddaughters.
Pallbearers will be Justin and Brian Brooks, Matt Hopkins, Brandon and Nickey Hayes, Ryan Eaton, and Andy Bridges.
