A. Dale Patterson 85, formerly of Bradford Pa., passed away Tuesday, October 27, 2009 in Whitney, Texas.
Dale was born August 20, 1924 in Bradford and lived here on and off for most of his life. He was the son of Kenneth and Eloise Reeves Patterson.
Patterson served in the U.S. Army from March 16, 1943 until November 26, 1945. During World War II, he was stationed in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe. He was in communications in General Patton's trailer. He received the Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, American Thr. Service Medal and the EAME Thr. Service Medal with five Bronze Stars.
He first married Betty T. Raught, who preceded him in death after 52 years of marriage. They maintained homes together in PA and FL. In 1995, he married Mildred Cornelous Yoxtheimer in Mineola, TX. The couple maintained homes in Pennsylvania and Texas.
Patterson was an electrician by trade and belonged to the IBEW local five in Pittsburgh, PA. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge and was a 32nd degree Mason. Dale loved to fish and collected antique fishing lures.
In addition to his parents and first wife, Dale was preceded in death by son, Kenneth Dale Patterson; sister Katherine Johnson; brother, Jack Patterson; stepson, David Yoxtheimer and great-grandson, Bruce Campbell III.
Patterson if survived by his wife Mildred "Midge" Patterson; daughters, Sandra L. (Gene) Northrop and Brenda (Bruce) Campbell; son, Mark C. Patterson; sister, Karol Johnson; 16 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews across the county.
