Daryl Lee Wherry was born on April 17, 1933 to Wilferd and Violet (Blaylock) Wherry in Monticello, Iowa. He graduated from Onslow High School in 1952. On February 22, 1953 he was united in marriage to Geraldine Topping at the United Methodist Church in Wyoming.
He hauled milk for Monticello Creamery in his earlier years and then drove the petroleum truck for FS in Onslow for over 30 years. Daryl honorably served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion Wyoming Post #259 and he conducted many Memorial Day Services. Daryl was very involved in his community. He was on the Pioneer and Clay Cemetery Boards, a volunteer on the Onslow Fire Department, the president of Jones County Historical Museum Society, on the Jones County Conservation Board and a member of the Onslow Community Men’s Club.
Daryl was a people person and loved to strike a conversation with anyone he came in contact with. He was a very proud American and always made sure everything he purchased was American made. He enjoyed watching Nascar. Most of all he loved his family and spending time with them.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents Bert and Florence, his parents Wilferd and Violet and a sister-in-law Mary Wherry.
