Bernard "Bernie" Joseph III, "The Renaissance Man", 57, of Harrisburg, passed away on Friday, September 25, 2015.

He was the loving husband of Donna Kirker Morgan of Harrisburg.

Bernie was born in Philadelphia on April 22, 1958.

He attended St. Joseph Preparatory School, obtained his undergraduate degree from Penn State, received a fellowship to the University of Tennessee, and completed his studies with an MBA from St. Joseph University.

Although his formal education was complete, Bernie loved to learn.

He was always reading, learning, trying new things, and including his family in on his newfound interests.

He was a collector of many things; in particular, he liked to collect coins.

He loved music, especially the Grateful Dead, and had the opportunity to see them many times in concert.

A cyclist for decades, he was a three-time finisher of "Registers Annual Great Bike Ride Across Iowa" (RAGBRAI), most recently in July 2015.

He loved life, and enjoyed varied interests; Formula One Racing, Saint Joseph's University basketball, and was a long-time ticket holder in section WC at Beaver Stadium.

In addition to his beloved wife, and his parents, he is survived by his children, 2 brothers, both of Jamison, PA; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A viewing will be Monday, September 28, 2015, from 9 to 11 A.M. at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, 6150 Allentown Blvd., Harrisburg, PA 17112, with a mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11 A.M.

Burial will follow in Paxtang Cemetery. Hetrick Bitner Funeral Home, Harrisburg is honored to handle arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be offered to Penn State THON, 210 HUB, University Park, PA 16802.
