Mrs. Grethel May (Bayte) Cole, 61, died Friday morning at the home of her son, Charles Batye, 225 Polk street. Mrs. Cole, a daughter of Walter and Emma (Hall) Jennings, was born on Feb. 7, 1904, at North Salem, Mo. Mrs. Cole was reared in the North Salem community and attended school there. She was married to William Batye. Mrs. Cole was a member of the North Salem Methodist Church.

Survivors in addition to her son are a daughter, Mrs. Lila Johnson, St. Joseph; brother, Otis Jennings, St. Joseph; and two sisters, Mrs. Bernice Jones, Marceline, and Mrs. Melissa Belzer, Winigan. She also leaves five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
