Mr. James William Bean, age 75 of Griffin, passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2015 at his residence.

Mr. Bean was born in Donalsonville, Georgia on January 26, 1940.

He is the son the late Elijah Blackshear Bean and Odell (Brogdon) Bean.

Mr. Bean was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served from 1960-1964. Before retirement, he worked as Manager for Carroll Tire Distributor Company. He was a member of Griffin First Assembly of God Church. Mr. Bean loved pool and politics. He was a God Fearing man, believed in his Lord and the power of prayer. He loved his family unconditionally.

Survivors include his loving wife of 50 years, Carolyn Bean of Griffin; daughters and their spouses, Bonnie and Billy Collins of Stockbridge, Connie and Andy Farr of Griffin; daughter, Chrissy Cattuzzo of Lake City, Georgia; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brothers, Marvin Bean of Colquitt, David Bean and his wife, Judy of Colquitt; sister, Janie White and her husband, Kenneth of Eufaula, Alabama; mother, O’Dell Bean of Colquitt.

Visitation for James W. Bean will be Monday, August 3, 2015 from 1:00pm until 2:00pm at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. Following the visitation, a memorial service will be conducted in the chapel. Reverend Mike Freeman will officiate.

Mr. Bean chose to be cremated, however he will have a Military Marker placed at Sherwood Memorial Park to commemorate his service to our country.
