Ruth Cock Nelson, 97, of Martinsville passed away on Thursday, September 24, 2015 at her home. She was born in Meadows of Dan, VA on September 20, 1918 to Curtis Cock and Alice Barnard Cock.
She graduated from Hardin Reynolds Memorial High School in 1936 where she studied business courses. She retired from DuPont after 39 years where she was a Steno/Buyer. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Martinsville, the Mary Kirk Bible Class and Senior Fellowship Group. She was also a member of DuPont Retirement Club.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Samuel Weston Nelson in 1995; her son, Robert W. Nelson, who passed away on September 6, 2015; brothers, Curtis Cock, Jr. and J.B. Cock; sister, Mary Lou Garrahan.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, September 28, 2015 at McKee Stone Funeral Home with Reverends John Fulcher and Mark Ivey officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Roselawn Burial Park.
