She is survived by one son, Cornelius Webster Abbott of J., Baltimore; two sisters, Elinor M. Graham and Sara M. Medford, both of Baltimore; brother, Frank Winder Mish, Falling Waters, WV; and four grandchildren.
Services were held at the Chapel of the Church of the Redeemer, Charles St. and Melrose Ave. Burial in St. Paul's Church Cemetery in Clear Spring.

Baltimore -- Mrs. JESSE F. HAKES, died Tuesday at the Keswick Home on Incurables. Born in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of Frank Winder Mish and Eleanore Elizabeth Dubbs. She was preeded in death by her first husband, John M. Abbott and her second husband, Jesse Franklin hakes.
She and her second husband had lived in Howard County from 1943 to 1976. She had attended Hood College from 1912 to 194 and Hartridge School in New Jersey from 1914 to 1916. She had been employed by the War Industries Board.
She was a member of the Commission on Maryland Beautiful and was a life and honorary member of the Howard County Historical Society. She was also a member of the St. John's Cemeteryu Board in Ellicott City. She was past president of the Federated Garden Clubs of Maryland, and chairman and historian of Legislation for the National Council of State Garden Clubs. She was chairman of the National Historic Site and member of the Advisory Commission on Patapsco Park and Gun Powder River Valley Park. She was director of the National Riverside Council and secretary of the Maryland Conservation Federation. ......
