Ruby Lorene Blankenship, age 94, of Willow, passed away Friday evening, September 25, 2015, at her residence, northeast of Willow.
Mrs. Blankenship was born in Quanah, Texas on October 16, 1920, to Wendell and Opal (Arrington) McGee. As a child, the family moved to their farm northeast of Willow. During her senior year at Ocina, Ruby married the love of her life, J.E. Blankenship, and they spent the next seventy-four wonderful years together before his death on November 24, 2011. After their marriage, they established their home northeast of Willow where J.E. farmed. Ruby was a farmwife in all ways. She hoed the cotton, drove the tractors, hauled the hay, fed the cattle and anything else to help on the farm. In her spare time, Ruby enjoyed working with her flowers, but the special times were spent with her family and friends.
Preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Velma Blair; two brothers, Leon McGee and Lee McGee; one son-in-law, Ron Fair and one daughter-in-law, Shirley Blankenship, she is survived by three children, Donnie Blankenship and wife Judy of Willow, Jean Fair of Yukon and Mikie Blankenship of Willow; eight grandchildren, Tammy Blankenship, Shawn Mosley and husband Larry, Shalynna Blankenship, LaGenna Attebery and husband Mike, Lewis Berry, Melissa Vaught and husband Rodney, Blaine Litle and Craig Litle and wife Laura; eleven great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; one sister, Juanita Hopper of Mangum along with many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Ruby Blankenship will be at 1 p.m., Monday, September 28, 2015, at the Willow Church of Christ with Ken Hamilton officiating. Interment will follow at the Willow Cemetery under the direction of Greer Funeral Home of Mangum.
