Son of William Monroe Moody and Sarah Catherine McCullough, "Plez" was twice wed. His first wife was Pauline Jessie Calvin whom he married in 1925. They were the parents of two daughters, Mary Deen and Betty Joyce Moody.

After 1930, the couple divorced, and Pleasant married second Ruth E. [Anderson] Jonas 4 Jun 1935 in Marionville, Lawrence Co., MO. To their union were born five known children: John Wesley, James Raymond, Shirley, Leona and Wilma Moody.

Funeral services for Pleasant "Plez" Johnson Moody, 69, of McCord Bend were at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the Oldfield Church of Christ, with Jack Richardson officiating. Burial was in Old Boston Cemetery, east of Old Boston Cemetery, east of Oldfield, under the direction of the Cheatham-Stumpff funeral home of Galena.

A former resident of Christian County, Mr. Moody had lived in the McCord Bend near Galena for the past seven years. He was a member of the Church of Christ. Mr. Moody died at the home of a neighbor Thursday, June 2 at 5:30 p.m. of an apparent heart attack.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth; two sons, John Wesley Moody of Noel and James Raymond Moody of Southwest City; five daughters, Mrs. Mary Spencer, Daly City, Calif., Mrs. Joyce Brumley, Ozark, Mrs. Shirley Rice, Seabrook, Texas, Mrs. Leona McKee, Southwest City, Mrs. Wilma Hale, Verona; five brothers, Efton Moody of Buckeye, Ariz., Homer Moody of Selah, Wash., Cyrus Moody and Richard Moody, both of Oldfield, and Albert Moody of Marian, Ind.; two sisters, Mrs. Becky Wright, Marionville, and Mrs. Ellie Adams, Oldfield; 19 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
