MARTIN KELLY – The dead Senator Buried with Impressive Rites.

Obituary abstract: The funeral services of the late Martin Kelly, ex-Senator and Asst Chief Wharfinger of the State, were held yesterday morning from the residence of Mrs. Michael Joseph Kelly, 2912 California street, whence the remains were borne to St. Dominic’s Church at 10 o’clock.
.....at 10 o’clock the funeral procession formed and moved on toward the church. The Knights of St. Patrick, Knights of the Red Brauch and representatives from the Young Men’s Institute, the Young Men’s club and other societies of which the deceased was a member preceded the cortege…..
…List of prominent persons in attendance….Nearly every employee of the Harbor Commissioners was in line in the cortege, marshaled by ex-senator John W. Wilcox.
…A solemn requiem mass was celebrated by Rev. Father Callahan, pastor of the church…
Father Callahan preached a somewhat brief but eloquent sermon, in which he eulogized the deceased for his devotion to religious and secular duties and his many sterling qualities.
After the services were concluded, the funeral proceeded to Holy Cross Cemetery, where the remains were interred.

Friends and acquaintances are respectfully invited to attend the funeral Tomorrow (Monday) at 10 o’clock a.m. from the residence of his deceased brother, Michael Joseph Kelly, 2912 California street.
