Barbara Jo Brown Day, the only daughter of Harlan and Zelma DeLapp Brown, was born January 31, 1953, at Creston, Iowa; and departed this life at the Nebraska Methodist Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of twenty-eight years, eight
months and twenty-one days.

She grew up on a farm southwest of Lenox and attended the Lenox schools, where she graduated with the class of 1971.

On June 26, 1971, she was united in marriage with Doyle Day of Gravity, Iowa. To this marriage two daughters were born: Cheri and Julie.

For the past few years, they made their home in Red Oak and Barbara was employed at the Union Carbide plant.

Barbara always had a zest for life and she had maintained this spirit throughout her battle with cancer the past six week.

Those surviving to honor her memory are her daughters, Cheri and Julie, ages nine and seven; their father Doyle of Red Oak, his mother. Opal Day of Gravity; her mother and father, Harlan and Zelma Brown of Lenox; and four brothers and their families. Larry Brown of Creston, and Dennis, David, and Tom Brown, all of Lenox. Also surviving are her grandmother, Ruby Brown of Sharpsburg, other relatives and a host of friends.

Services were held Saturday, October 24 at 10 a.m. at the United Presbyterian Church with Reverend Don Fisher officiating.

Music was provided by Roberta Lockhart, organist, and Mike Evans, Dave Case, and Jerry Williams, vocalists. Selections were "He'll Rise Again" and "One Day At A Time".

Casket bearers were Mark Doran, Bryce Van Houton, Marshall Laire, Ronnie Fitzgerald, Rodney Brown, and Craig Donaldson.

Interment was in North Fairview Cemetery at Lenox.
