He stayed there a few years, and finally headed back to Minnesota. He spent the winter of 2010 with Gerald "Jerry" Keene Cravens, son of wife number four (4), Donna Jean Keene. He stayed in his RV that he had purchased and plugged it into a house owned by his son inherited after his mother died. However, the house was being sold. After the sale of the house, he left Minnesota in August 2011 and found a piece of property to camp on just outside of Ashland, Oregon, The property was less than a half mile off Interstate 5. He died during the early morning hours of 19 November 2011 in his RV of Congestive Heart failure and Emphysema.
