Sally Schluntz Robinson
July 4, 1953 - September 25, 2015

Lafayette - Sally Robinson, 61, of Youngsville passed away Friday, September 25, 2015 at her residence.

A Memorial Service for Sally Schluntz Robinson, 62, will be held at Asbury United Methodist Church, 101 Live Oak Blvd., Lafayette, LA on October 3, 2015 service at 11:00 officiated by Rev. Richard Humphries and will conclude with a small reception.

Sally Schluntz Robinson passed from this life suddenly on September 25, 2015.

She was born in Calgary, Alberta, Canada on July 4, 1953 - American Independence Day - to Earl Kenneth and Rachel Amanda Gregg Schluntz.

Sally will be remembered as a caring person who surmounted challenges in her life; cared for her younger siblings and was a welcome companion to the next generation; and found new inspiration for life in recent years.

The family moved several times during Sally's youth, as was typical of oil families. Pictures of her in the early years show a little blond waif in the front row of family reunion pictures. As a little girl she enjoyed a train trip across Canada, on which the family stopped in Lansing, MI to pick up a new 1956 Oldsmobile, then drove to Patton, PA to visit mom Rachel's family. Even at that young age, Sally found a place and people to connect with. Sally enjoyed travel throughout her life, including visiting Yosemite National Park with brother Gregg and his family. She especially enjoyed joining her sister Jill on a trip to the Holy Land and sister Susan at a recent Gregg family reunion in Pennsylvania.

Sally was a long-time member of Asbury Methodist Church in Youngsville, along with her father. Sally and sister Jill made sure that their father, Ken, was able to attend church as long as his health permitted.

Sally earned her M.S. in Rehabilitation Counseling in 1999, and LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor) in 2004. She worked in several capacities throughout her career, including Certified Rehabilitation Counselor for persons with Downs syndrome; Special Education teacher for students with severe/profound disabilities and communication disorders; speech therapy assistant in the school system; management and marketing for counseling centers; and most recently as caregiver for homebound elderly.

She is survived by her siblings and their families: Gregg Schluntz (Nancy) of Hayward, CA; Jim Schluntz (Sherry) of Pearland, TX; Susan Schluntz of Youngsville; Jill Guidry Schluntz of Arlington, TX; and their children.

Sally's parents, Ken and Rachel Schluntz of Youngsville, predeceased her.

David Funeral Home of Lafayette at 316 Youngsville Hwy will be handling the arrangement.
