He enlisted at North Adelaide, South Australia in May 1916. He embarked from Adelaide for Plymouth per the SS "Itria," on the 14th of August 1916. He proceeded from Folkestone to Etaples in France per the "Princess Victoria," on the 31st of December 1916. He served in France on the Western Front when he received multiple gun shot wounds on the 10th of May 1917. He died of his wounds on the 12th of May 1917. Herbert George Lienert is the son of Annie Lienert of Hart Street Lower South Adelaide. (Bio by kc.byrne)
