Myra (Capps) Miller, 93 went to her heavenly home September 23, 2015. She was born August 30, 1922 in Blackfoot, Idaho to Robert Oscar and Edith Ryman Capps, the 4th of 9 children. She went to school in Blackfoot, Carey and graduated from Aberdeen High School in 1940. She moved to Salmon with her family after graduation.

She met Clarence Miller at the Methodist Church Youth group. They married March 3, 1941 since that was the first day Clarence was able to get to town from Bohannon Creek because of the muddy roads. They had five children: Clarence “Bud” (Donna) of Spokane, Washington, Don of Hamilton, Montana, Joyce (Matt) Harman of Pineville, West Virginia, Helen (Lew) Enloe of Kuna, Idaho, and Myra “Midy” (Steve) Speich of Salmon.

She was always busy and working on the farm or in the community. She worked as a sales clerk at JC Penney in Salmon. She taught the first kindergarten class in Salmon in 1951. She helped her brother Martin with his outfitting/guide business by cooking, washing dishes and driving shuttle. She worked for USDA as a meat inspector at King B Jerky in Salmon for 19 years and the State of Idaho as inspector at several butcher shops and grocery stores. She always loved working with and teaching little children. She babysat for many families while the parents worked and stayed with several families while the parents were out of town. She and Clarence were foster parents for several years.

After retiring she volunteered at the Forest Service office, Library, Hospice and Pioneer school till she was 90. She was awarded the Volunteer of the year in 2008. The county fair was another volunteer endeavor, serving as Superintendent of several different departments over the years. She belonged to the Grange and was an officer for many years. 4-H, After School Promise and Meals on Wheels were other volunteer activities she participated in.

She supported the school by attending most music programs, plays and sports events. She was a great cheerleader for her hockey playing grandchildren. Her “noisy gloves” are famous. She also loved the out-doors, teaching her children and grandchildren how to camp. She was a Girl Scout leader for many years and worked at the Pine Creek Girl Scout Ranch as caretaker.

She was a member of the Salmon United Methodist Church, attending almost every Sunday since 1940 and training her children in the way of the Lord too. She was a leader of the youth group and a camp counselor at the church camp at Flathead Lake. She often taught Sunday school and drove a small bus to pick up children for Sunday school. She was generous with her time as well as what she had, friendly and spoke to everyone, always had a smile for everyone. She touched many lives and will be greatly missed by her five children, their spouses, 14 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and several cousins. Two brothers, Royden and Sam Capps and one sister, Lulu Beattie also survives her.

She is preceded in death by her parents Edith & Oscar Capps, three brothers Luther, Gilbert and Martin; two sisters: Esther Davis & Helen Caporaletti, husband Clarence and two grandchildren Jed & Elijah.
