Margaret Ann Burgess-Jackson, or Nannie to her friends and family, was born on October 22nd, 1935 in Keys, OK, the daughter of Lattie B. and Bessie (York) Burgess. She attended school in Tahlequah and graduated in 1954. On February 2nd, 1959, she married Bob Jackson in Tahlequah, OK. Together they raised two sons and one daughter. Nannie has held a wide variety of jobs in her lifetime, she worked as a store clerk, cook, and held several other jobs, never missing a days work when she was able. Nannie showed her love and affection for her family by cooking Sunday dinners. She cooked the best fried chicken, brown beans, chocolate gravy, and Herman's favorite, German chocolate cake, at the holiday dinners. She enjoyed playing games with her family and friends like Bingo, Yahtzee, pitch, and the occasional trip to the casino. She also liked find-a-word books. She was a member of the Keys Southern Baptist Church and never missed a chance to show her church family her love, by serving at every dinner, every funeral dinner, and ice cream social held at the church. She loved to talk, had no difficulty expressing her feelings and opinions freely. She was kind and loving to a fault. Her family and friends were her constant concern. She was always ready to help her neighbors at a moments notice. Her sense of humor was wickedly funny and she made friends easily at the drop of a hat, because Nannie never met a stranger. Her health began to fail her and the Lord called this good and faithful servant home to her eternal rest on Thursday, September 24th, 2015 in Tahlequah, OK, with her family by her side. Nannie was 79 years old. She will be greatly missed.
Nannie is preceded in death by her parents, baby sister Kathy Burgess, sister Rachel Smith, and one grandson, John Brent Garner, who passed in 1983.Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 56 years, Bob of the home in Keys. She leaves three children, Herman Augerhole and wife Janet of Tahlequah, OK, Sharon Garner of Tahlequah, OK, and Bobby Jackson and wife Charolette of Keys, OK. She leaves two sisters, Imogene "Frosty" Stratton of Cookson, OK, and Norma Kirk and husband Bill of Tahlequah, OK. Her legacy lives on in her beloved grandchildren, Amber Morris and husband Richie of Oktaha, OK, Chris Augerhole of Tahlequah, OK, Austin Jackson and girl friend Austyn Fulps of Randlett, OK, and Katelyn Augerhole and fiancé Colton Leedom of Sallisaw, OK, two great grandchildren, Morgan Morris and Mabree Morris both of Oktaha, OK, her many close friends at the Cherokee County Nursing Center such as Mark Erwin and the many wonderful and caring staff, and a special thanks to the Advantage Hospice Family, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, as well as a host of friends and loved ones.
