Aged 24.
Son of the late William and Mary A. Hope, of 5, Gordon Rd., Derby.

He was a pupil at The Royal Hibernian Military School, Phoenix Park, Dublin.
Upon completion of his primary education at 14 years of age, he joined the Sherwood Foresters Regiment on 16 June 1897, in Dublin.
He was discharged in 1910, and became a Police Constable in Nottingham.

He was mobilised on 5 August 1914, and arrived in France in December 1914.
He died during the Battle of Neuve Chappelle [NE of Bethune] during a German Counter attack.

He has no known grave.
