Roy Reg "Jack" Bowers, 86, of Eudora, KS passed away September 4, 2015, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. Jack was born July 18, 1929, in Linwood, Kansas to Roy H and Mary Eunice (Curtiss) Bowers. He grew up in Lawrence where he graduated from Lawrence High School. Jack served in the US Marine Corps during the Korean conflict. He lived in Lawrence, moved to Georgia and then back to Douglas County. Jack was a mail carrier in Lawrence, then a mechanic at a car dealership in Lawrence. His last position was with Seymour Foods in Topeka which afforded him the opportunity to travel the world. Jack was a member of the De Soto VFW and loved to fish and golf. He will be missed by family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty Olmsted Bowers; sons, Larry and Keith Bowers; brother Bill Bowers and half-sister, Mary Duncan. Jack is survived by former wife, Maelyne Rider Schultz; daughters, Debra and husband David Frye, Oskaloosa, KS and Jaclynn Bowers, Santa Anna, CA; brothers, Monte Bowers, De Soto, KS and Glenn "Bud" Bowers, Topeka, KS; half-sister, Martha Carpenter, Sebring, FL; fiancé Peggy Marie Crawford and her children Kelly Marquette, Lawrence, KS, Karla Peck, Lawrence, KS and Kevin Crawford, NY, NY; 16 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

Cremation. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:30 pm Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at Leavenworth National Cemetery at the Columbarium. Arrangements: Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner, KS (913) 856-7111. Condolences may be left at www.brucefuneralhome.com
