Gerald Henry Craig was born on April 3, 1943 in Walnut Shade, Missouri to Vernie and Van Craig. He graduated from Spokane High School in Spokane, Missouri in May of 1961. On February 26, 1965 he married Christa Gayle Wagner in Springfield, Missouri at the Victory Baptist Church by Fred Lynn, Pastor.

He is survived by his wife Christa Craig of Salmon; daughter Cherryl Dawn (Todd) Finney of Fulsher, Texas; grandson Drake Allen Beaulieu of Tampa, Florida; two sisters: Elsie (Larry) Colvard and Darlene Engelke of Missouri and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by a baby sister, his parents and brother Larry Craig.

Gerald worked a few years at Rock-a-Way Beach near Branson, Missouri and 15 years at Hutchinson Industry Steel Foundry in Springfield, Missouri. Then in August of 1979 Gerald took his family West to Salmon, Idaho where he started out working at Twin Peaks Ranch. Gerald served the community of Salmon through various jobs from cleaning trails in the Salmon National Forest to cleaning hallways and such in the Salmon Junior High School building, from working at the old Lumber Mill in the middle of town called Intermountain Lumber to working at the Cobalt Mine. Then closing out his years of service by driving a bus for CART and then it went to TRIPTA.

He served his Savior through the Salmon Valley Baptist Church by helping in the building of the original building, then leading the song service of each Sunday Service. He also was one of the leaders in the AWANA program that the church conducted for the youth of the community. The last years of service were in support by attending Sunday morning services, Bible Study Hour and other events that were held at the church.

It was often said that “Gerald could always be found stepping up and doing nice things for his fellow man.” He will be missed by all, but is now in his new home in Heaven which the Lord has prepared for him and to be joined later by his family and friends.

Memorials in Gerald Craig’s memory are suggested to the Salmon Valley Baptist Church at PO Box 845 Salmon, Idaho 83467.
