RANGER -- God has called another faithful servant home.

John Wayland Baker, 76, of Ranger, Texas passed away on September 22, 2015 at his home, surrounded by family.

John was born to Weldon Orville Baker and Edna Finch Baker on August 21, 1939 in Wichita Falls, Texas.

His greatest accomplishment in life was the family he cherished and loved with all of his heart.

John worked for the City of Dallas, Texas in the Parks and Recreation Department for 10 years. He then began working for the City of Mineral Wells, Texas in the Parks and Recreation Department until his retirement after 26 years.

John loved the outdoors and had many hobbies which included woodworking, gardening and ranching. But his favorite pastime was spending time with the family and friends he loved.

John is survived by his wife of 49 years, Pearlie L. Baker of Ranger, Texas; children, John W. Baker Jr. and wife, Mary, of Dublin, Texas, Rex C. Baker and wife, Melissa, of Ranger, Texas, Clifford Baker and wife, Beth, of Rhome, Texas, James Baker and wife, Cristy, of Godley, Texas, and Brian Alsip and wife, Lesa, of Mineral Wells, Texas; sister, Ruth Cornett of McKinney, Texas; brother, Orville (Sonny) Baker of Wichita Falls, Texas; 13 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and his little buddy "Nikko".

He is preceded in death by his parents, Weldon and Edna Baker; sisters, Margie Uminkski and Patsy McAllester; and granddaughter, Rachelle Nicole Baker.

The family would like to extend our heartfelt love and appreciation for the following people: Dr. Kevin Jones for your years of faithful care for Dad; Brother Bill Hudson for being there at anytime when our family is in need; The Gentiva Hospice staff of: Julie Sledge, Amanda Evers, Debbie Elam, Mary Ann Rice, Cissy Ward, Jeannie Plowman, and Chaplain Timothy Martin.

The world is a little bit sadder today without you in it. But you finally get to take your spot in your heavenly home. We love you Dad.
