Jimmy Burt Sykes, known to everyone as Buddy, 74, of Indianola, passed away Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at St. Dominic Jackson Memorial Hospital. Buddy was born in Indianola on February 28, 1941, the son of Jimmie Lou and Mattie Wilma Sykes. For many years he was the owner of Delta Brokerage and had farming interest in Sunflower County. The past several years he was associated with Yokley & Lundy Auction Company. Buddy was a former Volunteer Fireman as well as a former Jaycee. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Indianola.

Buddy was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Billielu Sykes Davis. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Betty Jean Sykes of Indianola; sons, Greg Sykes and wife Pam of Columbus and Jimmy Sykes and wife Leisha of Southaven; daughter, Debbie Williams and husband Lyle of Grenada; grandchildren, Matt Sykes, Hunter Sykes, Sarah Katherine Sykes, Haley Williams, Brandon Williams, Madelyn Sykes, and Mary Kaitlyn Sykes.

The family will receive friends Thursday, September 24, 2015 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Burton Funeral Home. A second visitation will be Friday, September 25, 2015 from 1:00 pm until the 2:00 pm funeral service at Burton Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Indianola City Cemetery, all under the direction of Burton Funeral Home, Indianola.
