On Wednesday last, quite a gloom was cast over the village of Great Gonerby when it became known that Lance-Corpl. William Henry Bromhead was "killed in action," at a place not stated, on March 10th. Out of the many Gonerby boys who are engaged in the war, this is the first fatal casualty that has been notified. The deceased enlisted in the 2nd Battalion of the Lincolnshire Regiment in October, 1908, and has seen service in Gibraltar and Bermuda. He was popular in the village, and took much interest in football and cricket. He was a member of the church choir, and his father has been one of the sidesmen for many years. Great sympathy has been extended to the sorrowing parents
