Melissa Lee Holliday McNeil was born January 13, 1971 to Curlee Holliday and Mattie Lee Green Holliday in Kemper County, MS.

She was a 1989 graduate of West Kemper High School in DeKalb, MS. She had been employed at Nemanco, Inc. in DeKalb, MS; Tommy's Steak and Seafood in Meridian, MS; Golden Living Center in Meridian, MS; and Pappy's Hickory Smoked Bar-B-Q in Meridian, MS.

On July 14, 1999, she married Fred Junior McNeil, the son of Solomon McNeil and Geneva Hampton McNeil, who is also a native of Kemper County, MS. Two children, both daughters, were born to their union.

Early in life, she joined the Church of Christ in DeKalb, MS. She continued to worship at the Galilee Missionary Baptist Church in Toomsuba, MS.

She died September 22, 2015 at the age of 44.

She was the Wife of Fred Junior McNeil; the Mother of Starmeka "Star" McNeil and Ayana McNeil; the Daughter of Curlee Holliday and Mattie Lee Green Holliday; the Sister of Sandra Holliday Carter, Timothy Holliday, and Airon Holliday; the Paternal Granddaughter of Clarence Holliday and Theola Hickman Holliday; and the Maternal Granddaughter of Holly Overstreet and Jessie Mae Green.
