Mrs. Alverson died Thursday, January 12 at her home in Mason City. She was born Laura Hagen on May 18, 1879 in Dows, the daughter of Ole and Kari Hagen. She was raised and educated in Dows and later attended Ellsworth College in Iowa Falls. After college she taught for several years. Laura was also Deputy Clerk of Courts and the assistant postmaster in Roseau, Minnesota.
She was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Dows.
On March 17, 1909 she was united in marriage to George Alverson. She is survived by one son, Orien of Dows; one daughter, Amy Alverson of Mason City; one grandchild and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four brothers, three sisters and one daughter.
