Born April 23, 1948 in Des Moines, she was the daughter of Edward and Geneva (Davison) Mabb. She graduated from Washington High School in 1966. She was united in marriage to Paul Stafford in Washington.
Most of her life was spent in Washington except for the past four years when she lived in St. Charles. She formerly worked for Washington County Hospital, Washington, and Pleasantview Home, Kalona. Most recently, she was employed by Mother's Day Out Day Care and Dierberg's Market in the St. Charles area.
Mrs. Stafford was a member of First United Methodist Church of St. Charles.
Survivors include a son, Dana Stafford of West Chester; three daughters, DeAnn and husband Morgan Yoder of Kalona, Denise and husband Kevin Erpelding of Washington and Dawnelle and husband Brian Barteau of St. Charles; two grandchildren, Nicole and Tyler; two brothers, Sid and wife Sue Mabb of Ladora and Larry and wife Becky Mabb of Blackduck, Minnesota; and her stepfather, Louis Paillotel of Washington.
She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant son.
